For unauthorized buildings officials will face hefty fine even jail.

Mumbai: Minister of state for urban development Bhaskar Jadhav on Monday informed to the legislative assembly that “the President has given her assent to Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Municipal Councils and Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning (Amendment) Act,2010 that officials those are not taking any action against the illegal buildings will have to face one months imprisonment or Rs.25000 as fine.”
According to the new amended Act, it allows the appointment of an office who will take care if any irregularities in illegal constructions in the jurisdiction of the respective municipal corporation, council, panchayats and industrial townships. As per the rules if officer unable to take action against the illegal constructions then he will have to face one months imprisonment or hefty fine of Rs.25000.
